Nawaris is a musical ensemble that performs traditional Iraqi music as well as compositions of the group members. The oriental oud or luth, the soprano saxophone, the flute, the percussion’s, the singing, they meet, play engage in conversations and leave some space for improvisation. Hussein told us how the project was born:

•  “ I left my country, Iraq, where instability and war did not allow me to live and practice my art, music. I accordingly crossed the Mediterranean sea and numerous borders in order to build a new life in Europe and more specifically Brussels, a city that was describes to me as dynamic, noting its cultural diversity, a city where I feel at home. I arrived in August 2015 and little by little I was able to integrate, mostly thanks to practicing instruments. I have met a lot of musicians. During these meetings, together with four other musicians we launched the creation of Nawaris. A musical project that mixes several instruments with different musicals esthetics such as classical oriental , Jazz and Western music.
